Goodnight Farm Peekaboo

Five small rounds in the low evening sun, all told in a whisper. Quackers is in the reeds by the pond, Pip in the straw by the well, Nibbles behind the hay in the barn, Storm under the wooden bench, Fluffy in a bed of leaves at the edge of the trees. Each time a beak, a pair of horns or a tail gives the hiding place away, while Tibino checks the wrong spot first — the stones, the trough, the flowerpot. Then he turns and asks where she is, waits, and finds her with a quiet peekaboo. Every friend is left asleep where they were found, and at the end Tibino counts all five on his fingers and says goodnight to the farm.

The last few minutes before bed. The child is always one step ahead of Tibino, which keeps them looking without winding them up, and the voices never rise above a whisper.
