What happens

There is no music in this one and nobody talks except Tibino, who says hello at the pond at the start and waves goodbye in the meadow at the end. In between each bird gets its own eight to ten seconds: Swanny glides through the reeds, Tappy drums on a tree trunk, Moony the snowy owl calls from a snow drift, Penny the penguin chick waddles across the ice, Trilla the nightingale closes the day from a fence post. The bird does one small natural thing, then makes its call twice, and the picture moves on.

Good for

A child who gets wound up by fast videos. Nothing is edited to a beat, there is no background music at all, and every shot is a single unbroken take — it works as a listening game and equally well as something quiet in the background.

What a child picks up

Twenty bird calls and the birds they belong to, and listening closely enough to tell a coo from a hoot.
